Finally, after almost a month of putting it off, Anakin was standing before the Council, Obi-Wan beside him. It seemed everyone was waiting for Anakin to explain his long absence and tell them about whatever ordeals he had obviously been through. His demeanor upon returning to the Temple did not go unnoticed by...well...anyone. Anakin takes a deep breath, forces himself to look up from the floor and face the Council members directly before him, Master Windu and Master Yoda.
For a moment, he's once again a little boy standing before these great Jedi Masters, afraid of what would happen to him, and yet desperate to prove himself worthy to become one of them.
In a way, he's still that little boy, except now he's terrified of what will happen to him and he's still desperate to prove himself worthy. He shakes off the image and begins. "Several months ago, I first became aware of the Sith, Revan. She confronted me, told me I was wasting my potential here. Tried to convince me to become her apprentice. I didn't accept her offer." Though he doesn't say that he outright refused it. "We ended up fighting and I just escaped with my life." Several of the Council members are nodding at this, Anakin had said almost as much back when it had happened and he'd been looking for Obi-Wan's council, as well as Obi-Wan himself. Unfortunately, although investigations had been conducted, no trace of the Sith was found.
"About a month later, she found me again. We talked again, I found an excuse to leave her immediate presence. She caught up with me and...did something...with the Force. I fell unconscious. When I awoke, she had me on her ship."
A glance to Obi-Wan, "I spent about the next two months there while she tried to make me her apprentice. I tried to escape once but...she stopped me. It was only near the end of the two months that she gave me a lightsaber with which to spar with her. So she could teach me Sith methods. And, I guess, as a sign of trust, of a sort, to get me to trust her." As if I ever could. Then, a rueful look. "I did learn a lot about what Force Lightning feels like. As well that I'm still not the skilled swordsman I once thought myself to be." There, add a bit of humility, shock them right out of their seats.
"She let me keep the lightsaber. And with it, I was able to escape while she wasn't on the ship. From there, I flew to Naboo, which was closer than Coruscant. The shuttle hadn't been stocked with supplies, so I needed to stop." Anakin wasn't lying. The shuttle hadn't been stocked and it was at least a two day flight from the Rim to Coruscant. That just wasn't the reason he chose Naboo. "While I was there, the Senator was kind enough to give me a place to stay and once I was ready to go again, I came to Coruscant." He can almost imagine Master Windu calculating the times Anakin gave and still coming up with at least a week of extra time so Anakin takes a deep breath and forges on. "I admit that I did not come directly before you. I was...upset...about Obi-Wan missing and unsure..." if they were going to summarily kick you out and say 'go back to tatooine, we don't want you anymore, sithboy'. "Unsure of how to tell you all of this."
Mace was the first to speak. "You should have come to us, Anakin."
Anakin starts to say, "I know, I'm sorry," but the elder Jedi holds up a hand to forestall him. "But I'm certain you realize that. Tell us more of this Sith."
Inward sigh on Anakin's part. "She claimed to be a Darth Revan. Apparently from several thousand years in the past. I looked for her in the Archives and all they say is that she and her apprentice Darth Malak were involved in the Great Sith War and it is believed that she was killed by her apprentice." He looks around at the Council Members. "I don't know if her story was true or not, but that's what she told me." The answer didn't really seem to satisfy Master Windu, but now it was Yoda's turn.
"Why, in you, so interested was she?"
Anakin stares at the diminutive Jedi Master, then finally shakes his head. "I don't know. She wanted an apprentice. She said I had potential. I don't even know how she found me." He remembers the lightsaber he's holding and offers it to Mace. "That's the lightsaber she gave me." As if it'll prove he's not making it all up.
Mace turns the lightsaber over in his hands. The analysis droids down in the Archives would have a field day with this one.
The questioning then turns from the sith, more to Anakin himself and his thoughts and feelings during this time. Anakin answered as honestly as he could but refrained from the details that he gave Obi-Wan in the Healer's Ward as Obi-Wan himself suggested he do.
Eventually, after much questioning and what seems like an eternity to Anakin, the Council agrees that Anakin may stay, though both he and his Master will be under close watch. Both because of Obi-Wan's recent ordeals as well as Anakin's.
Anakin is just relieved to make it out of the Council Room all in one piece.
