Otherways: Background
Nov. 30th, 2005 10:17 pmAnakin was born a slave on Tatooine, was found by Jedi, blahblahblah, we all know what happens. Grows up, falls in love with Padme, gets married secretly, war starts, he loses half an arm, goes off and fights a lot, becomes a Jedi Knight and somewhere in there, Padme gets pregnant. Still pretty much par for the course. In fact, it pretty much stays par for the course up until somewhere during Revenge of the Sith.
Mustafar,AnakinVader Force strangles Padme, fight with Obi-Wan commences. Lots of fighting, lots of lava. But in the end, Anakin does accomplish the move he tried to make and doesn't lose any limbs. In the end, it is Obi-Wan that dies, killed by Vader's hand.
Vader then goes back to Padme and tries to save her. In fact, he does everything in his power, using the Dark Side to hold her to this life and prevent her from slipping into death until he gets her back to Coruscant and a med center there. The twins are born, but she still dies. Vader is devastated, feeling that all of what he had done was now for nothing. It had all been for her and now she was dead, what was left?
All that is left him are two small bundles, the twins. His twins.
He has no intention of becoming the Sith that Palpatine wants him to be and there is no reason now to remain loyal to the Emperor for he did not deliver what was promised. He did not help him save Padme. And now, Vader has two future apprentices.
But the galaxy is in upheaval with the end of the war and the start of the New Order and Vader is not quite so confident in his abilities to destroy Palpatine just yet. Instead, he bides his time, intending to wait until things stabilize, until he can make his move and take over. That time will come soon.
In the mean time, he enjoys running the military, learning about the Dark Side, hunting Jedi, and playing peek-a-boo with his children.
It is roughly a year after the beginning of the Empire.
